How your BMW’s fitted features shape the glass choice

A BMW windscreen has to suit the equipment fitted to your vehicle. The Driving Assistant ADAS camera needs the right mount behind the mirror. Your glass may also need a rain and light sensor fitting, acoustic laminate or provision for a head-up display. We check your registration or VIN for the right part before our technician comes to you.

If you ask us for BMW windscreen repair, we check the chip first. A small chip can often be repaired without replacing the windscreen.

BMW details we check before replacement

We check the glass and fitted features, then settle the visit details with you.

  • Glass variant

We check your BMW's rain-sensor fitting, camera bracket and any acoustic or solar glass specification.

  • Camera and sensor fitment

We identify the camera and sensors behind the mirror and confirm whether ADAS recalibration belongs in the replacement plan.

  • Safety-glazing compliance

We check that the replacement glass meets safety-glazing requirements.

  • Booking details

We confirm your registration or VIN, where the car is and a day and time that suits you.

BMW models

BMW models and what sits behind the windscreen

We check your vehicle details before booking because the camera, sensors and glass options differ across these BMW models.

  • BMW 1 Series

Recent builds have a forward camera and a rain and light sensor behind the mirror.

  • BMW 3 Series

Recent builds have a forward camera and rain and light sensor; some need glass for a head-up display.

  • BMW 5 Series

A forward camera and rain sensor sit behind the mirror; acoustic glass and a head-up display are common.

  • BMW X1

Recent builds carry a forward camera and a rain and light sensor behind the mirror.

  • BMW X3

A forward camera and rain and light sensor sit behind the mirror; some grades have a head-up display.

  • BMW X5

Its large windscreen carries a forward camera and rain sensor; a head-up display is common on recent builds.

  • Another BMW model?

We confirm the glass for any BMW from the rego or VIN.

BMW Driving Assistant and ADAS recalibration

BMW Driving Assistant can use a forward camera behind the mirror on recent 1 Series, X1 and X3 builds. Replacing the windscreen changes the camera's position relative to the glass. When recalibration is required, we plan it with the replacement so the camera reads the road from its correct position.

Static calibration checks the camera against a fixed target. Dynamic calibration checks it while the vehicle is driven. We confirm which method, if any, your BMW's model and build requires.

How a BMW windscreen replacement works

Broken glass on a car seat before clean-up
STEP 1 of 5

We remove any broken glass with care

If a shattered screen has left glass inside your BMW, our technicians vacuum it out and protect the seats and trim before any work starts.

STEP 2 of 5

We remove the damaged windscreen

Modern tools lift the old glass out without damaging paint or interior trim.

If a toll tag is fitted to the old windscreen, we transfer it to the new one.

Technician removing the old rubber seals from a car
STEP 3 of 5

New rubber seals every time

The old seals come off and new ones go on with every replacement, so the new windscreen is sealed against water, dust and wind noise.

STEP 4 of 5

Urethane applied to the new glass

A high-quality urethane bond is applied so the windscreen sits exactly as the factory intended. We tell you when your BMW is safe to drive.

Fitted, checked and calibrated

The new windscreen is fitted and checked, and any camera behind the mirror is recalibrated where your BMW needs it.

All glass we fit complies with the Australian Vehicle Standard for Safety Glazing.

What to know about replacement glass for your BMW

BMW windscreens vary across the range. Acoustic laminated glass is common, and a head-up display needs matching glass. Genuine BMW glass is supplied as a BMW part. We can also quote an OEM-equivalent aftermarket windscreen suited to your vehicle. Ask us for genuine glass if that is your preference.

All glass we fit complies with the Australian Vehicle Standard for safety glazing. Our fitting is covered by a lifetime workmanship warranty. That cover applies to fitting, not to the glass itself.

Your BMW windscreen appointment: mobile or workshop

For BMW owners across Sydney, our mobile service means we can replace a windscreen at your home, workplace or a roadside location. We can also come to you for a chip repair.

Some ADAS calibrations may need a visit to our Warwick Farm workshop. We check the requirements for your vehicle and tell you where its replacement and calibration can be done.
